On April 24, 2026, the IMaTS community at McGill University will host the workshop “Climate, Emissions, and Energy in Transportation: Integrated Approaches for Sustainable Mobility.”
This event brings together researchers across transportation, energy systems, and climate science to address one central challenge: how to design mobility systems that are both low-carbon and operationally resilient.
A Systems Perspective on Mobility
Decarbonizing transportation is no longer just about electrification. It requires understanding how vehicles, infrastructure, energy systems, and human behavior interact.
The workshop emphasizes this systems perspective, exploring topics such as:
Climate impacts on transportation infrastructure
Emissions monitoring and energy transition
Electric vehicle operations and grid integration
Data-driven and AI-based mobility solutions
Resilience of urban systems under extreme conditions
From Research to Collaboration
Beyond presentations, the goal is to strengthen collaboration within IMaTS and across the department.
The workshop is designed to:
Connect complementary research efforts
Identify opportunities for joint projects and funding
Foster interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable mobility
