At IMaTS, we are committed to bridging the gap between research and practice by supporting the translation of academic knowledge into innovative solutions for society. In this context, we are proud to announce that postdoctoral researcher Dr. Jônatas Augusto Manzolli has successfully completed the Lab2Market Validate Program – Summer 2025 Cohort.

The 16-week program, funded by Mitacs and delivered in collaboration with V1 Studio, equips researchers with the tools and frameworks needed to assess the commercial potential of their work. Through this initiative, Dr. Manzolli advanced the development of NextDrive, an IMaTS spin-off project focused on optimizing the planning and operation of electric vehicle fleets.

Participation in the program enabled direct engagement with stakeholders from transit, utilities, and fleet operations, contributing to a more robust and practice-oriented business model. This process has reinforced IMaTS’ mission of fostering sustainable mobility solutions and strengthening our role within the broader innovation ecosystem.

We acknowledge with gratitude the support of program coaches and mentors, including Mike Raymond, Sandra Cinq-Mars, and Dr. Stephanie Mouchbahani-Constance, alongside program lead Meghan Gilmore. Their expertise and candid feedback have been essential to guiding this journey and to ensuring that IMaTS research continues to generate tangible societal impact.

The Lab2Market Program stands as a valuable pathway for researchers aiming to transform scientific discoveries into real-world innovations. Applications for the Winter 2026 Quebec cohort are now open.
